Racial Justice Workshops

YWCA Madison offers a series of learning experiences as an opportunity to develop a foundational understanding of the System of Racial Inequity in the context of the United States, and the impact it has at the interpersonal, institutional, and structural levels.

Through the development of this critical consciousness, we can also begin to build practices that interrupt the racial narrative of white supremacy and support personal and collective liberation grounded in equity.

All sessions will utilize multiple learning strategies, including: virtually facilitated learning experiences, interactive community building through an online platform, and self-directed learning, reflection, and processing outside of the facilitated experiences.

The sessions are designed in a progressive way, and an integral component of the experience is the shared dialogue participants have with fellow attendees. For this reason, it is required that participants plan to attend all 3 sessions in order to receive the full benefit of this format.

The learning journey has three primary days of touchpoints for learning in community:

  • Understanding Othering and Belonging: Level 100 - Thursday, July 30th, 2020
  • Deconstructing Racism: Level 200 - Thursday, August 13th, 2020
  • The Impact of the System of Inequity : Level 300 - Thursday, August 27th, 2020

The learning experience will be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the dates above. (There will be two hours of virtual facilitation in the morning, and two hours in the afternoon. Self directed learning and processing will occur in between.)

We're sorry, the deadline for buying tickets for this event has passed.
